Tuna and Cheese Puffs...

Did you ever sit down to do something totally mundane and common and suddenly have an epiphany. I just did.

I was sitting down to eat a meal. It was late in the day and I was really hungry. Not the edgy, grumpy hungry that sometimes happens. I was just really hungry. I thought it over and looked at my watch. It was just after 2:00 p.m. I had not had anything to eat since somewhere around 8:30 a.m. I had a meal replacement bar for breakfast. It was good. I went to the fridge and got something to eat. It was tuna and some cheese puffs, and it looked good.

I started eating it and I had an epiphany! It was really good. Mind you, I have had a great deal of tuna since I got here. Besides eggs, tuna is my main source of protein here. It doesn't require electricity to stay good so it is a meat of choice. We sometimes get fresh fish and that is also really good, but I digress.

I was sitting down and eating tuna, yet again. In fact, it was the final helping of some prepared tuna that has been in a bowl in the fridge all week. When I took it out the edges of the bowl had remnants from previous days helpings and they had gotten all hard and dried out from sitting in the fridge. Do you have any idea what I am talking about?

All of the aforementioned things considered, I sat down to eat my meal and I simply realized how good it was to me. I realized how blessed I was to be eating it. It was nourishing my body and pleasing my taste buds and meeting my needs. It made me think about God.

Really.

I have an awesome God in heaven who loves me and takes care of me. He sees to it that I have food to eat and I am blessed! I thought about the meal replacement bar. I ate the last one today. I thought about how much I enjoyed it and where it came from.

When I was in the U.S. in November, a friend asked me if I wanted anything. She was going to pack it in her husbands suitcase, and he would give it to me when he saw me. So I remembered the last time she and I were together. We had been out shopping and she handed me one of these bars and said "eat this, it's good." She was telling the truth. I ate it and it was good. So I told her that I would love some of those, whatever they were. She bought two boxes and packed them in his luggage.

Those bars traveled from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Miami, Florida to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to Les Cayes, Haiti. They were in three countries before they were in my belly! They were so very good and a total blessing. The tuna and cheese puffs don't have the same story, but that my friends is the epiphany!

They both mean as much to me because even though the meal replacement bars were from afar off and the tuna and cheese puffs were from town, they both represent provision. Whatever it takes.

Why? Because HE LOVES ME! Because the master of the universe cares about me! He does things for me I may not even know He did. He provides for me. He protects me. He looks out for me. He puts action into his love for me. He expresses it through the strangest things sometimes, but there it is.

Tuna and cheese puffs never tasted so good.
